The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Appeals Committee made a historic decision on Tuesday, declaring the Senegalese team as the loser of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final, which was supposed to be held in Morocco. The decision was made with a score of 0:3 in favor of the Moroccan team, based on Article 84 of the tournament's regulations. According to the official CAF website, the committee accepted the appeal from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation both on form and substance, overturning the previous decision of the disciplinary committee. The Appeals Committee confirmed that the behavior of the Senegalese team falls within the scope of violations stipulated in Articles 82 and 84 of the Africa Cup of Nations regulations, leading to the imposition of a withdrawal penalty and a victory awarded to Morocco. In a related decision, the committee partially accepted the appeal of Moroccan footballer Ismail Sibari, modifying his penalty to a two-match suspension, with one of them suspended, and canceling the $100,000 fine that had been imposed on him. The decisions also included reducing the fine imposed on the Royal Moroccan Football Federation for the stadium ball incident to $50,000 and reducing the fine for the fan laser pointer incident to ten thousand dollars.
