The Royal Moroccan Football Federation has announced the appointment of Moroccan coach Mohamed Wahbi as the new head coach of the Atlas Lions, succeeding Walid Regragui. Regragui's tenure, which began in 2022, was set to end in 2026. The announcement was made during a ceremony held by the federation to honor Regragui. Federation President Fouzi Lakjaa stated that confidence has been placed in Wahbi to lead the team in the upcoming phase. Mohamed Wahbi (49 years old) expressed his gratitude to the Moroccan Federation and its president for their trust, affirming his awareness of the magnitude of his responsibility just a few months before the 2026 World Cup. Regraggi, for his part, said that some stages require 'a new dynamic, new faces, and a new vision', noting that his decision to leave came after a comprehensive evaluation of the situation and a desire to give the team a new boost before the World Cup.
