The match between Morocco and Senegal took place on Sunday, January 18, 2026. In an official statement, the federation pointed out that the match witnessed the withdrawal of Senegalese players and staff from the field, and the invasion of the pitch by their fans, resulting in chaos and riots. The statement confirmed that the imposed sanctions do not match the severity and gravity of these events, noting that the president of the Confederation of African Football has been officially contacted to express the position of the Moroccan federation, which is keen to preserve all aspects of the game.
