Morocco's national team has achieved a new feat by becoming the highest-ranked Arab team in history, reaching the 8th position globally. This surpasses the previous record held by Egypt, which reached the 9th place in 2010. According to the FIFA world rankings released in January, the 'Atlas Lions' secured the 8th spot with 1736.57 points, making them the first Arab team to achieve such a ranking. Meanwhile, Egypt climbed four positions to 31st place with 1556.71 points, up from 35th. Morocco lost the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title to Senegal, which defeated them 1-0 in the final held at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium on Sunday. Egypt's 'Pharaohs' finished the tournament in fourth place, losing to Nigeria in the third-place playoff on penalties 4-2 after a 0-0 draw in regular time.
