Launch of New 'Atlas' Logistics Service from Agadir

Yesterday, the first «Atlas» service from Dubai World Ports (DP World) was launched from Agadir, Morocco, marking a significant leap in logistics for fresh produce between Morocco, the UK, and Europe.

This inaugural service is heading to the «London Gateway» terminals, owned by Dubai World Ports, on November 30th, and the «Antwerp Gateway» in Europe on December 1st.

According to a statement from DP World, this new and dedicated maritime route will improve the transportation of fruits and vegetables to the UK and Europe, providing faster and cheaper fresh products while reducing carbon emissions by up to 70%.

The company stated that by transporting up to 150,000 tons of fresh produce annually from roads to the maritime route, the service offers a sustainable and scalable logistics solution.

Klaus Larner, Vice President for Perishables at DP World, said: «The launch of our first mission under the 'Atlas' service from Agadir city is a significant step in sustainable logistics».

He added: «This solution combines the advantages of speed, reliability, and digital transparency to deliver high-quality products to retailers and consumers, helping our partners achieve their climate agenda goals».

It is worth noting that to support this service, Dubai World Ports has invested in 1,000 forty-foot containers and 750 twenty-foot dry containers, ensuring sufficient capacity for fresh and general cargo.
